NY TIMES: Can My Children Be Friends With White People?
As against our gauzy national hopes, I will teach my boys to have profound doubts that friendship with white people is possible. When they ask, I will teach my sons that their beautiful hue is a fault line. Spare me platitudes of how we are all the same on the inside. I first have to keep my boys safe, and so I will teach them before the world shows them this particular brand of rending, violent, often fatal betrayal.
I quoted this tweet earlier this morning with this comment
I think I'll stand by my comment. Granted perhaps it's going to be difficult to trust people in this cold world but then we can trust who we want to trust. The author seems to think Blacks can't trust or be friends with "white people" or Trump supporters. If he teaches his sons to not trust people they won't direct that towards one group, they'll direct it towards everyone.
