THE HOUSE DEMOCRATS WOMEN'S WORKING GROUP wore white in honor of the suffragettes of the last century. Suffragettes were successful in getting American women the right to vote in the 20th century.

Those 66 Democratic women chose to wear white last night at the joint Congressional session prime time speech by President Trump. The reasoning according to Congresswoman Lois Frankel (D-FL):
“We wear white to unite against any attempts by the Trump administration to roll back the incredible progress women have made in the last century, and we will continue to support the advancement of all women,” Frankel said in a statement. “We will not go back.”

According to the statement, Women’s Working Group members are fighting for women’s rights like equal pay, paid sick and family leave, retirement security, the right to live “lives free from fear and violence,” and access to affordable child care and affordable health care — “including reproductive health services like those offered by Planned Parenthood.”
In starting this post I intended to share posts from Instagram showing these women in white. I had more than the two you will see below. Unfortunately I failed to save those many links and am too lazy to look for them again.
