To that I say, "So what?" Ask yourself this: Which poses the greater threat to South Korea, or to the stability of the region? Seems simple enough. Let the "destabilization" efforts begin. They would only lead, in the long run, to more stability if the world stands back and lets China move into N. Korea. The long-suffering people of North Korea can only do better under Chinese protection. God knows anything would be an improvement over the lunatic dictatorship they have now.

CAPITOL FAX: It’s not a crime in Glenwood for a police dispatcher to tip off drug dealers
Apparently what happened is that the police chief claimed the employee violated a rule, but the alleged rule was never voted on by the village board of trustees. No vote equals no “law.” No law violation equals no crime.Yes, they should. BTW, the dispatcher was alerting her "baby daddy" about law enforcement activity that may well have uncovered his drug dealing activity. This case was over a decade old however.
I think maybe somebody should now make this a crime.
Glenwood might also want to start vetting its dispatchers a bit better.

"Gay Pride" is an antidote to gay shame -- the sense of alienation and otherness in adolescence that prompted writer Dan Savage to start the It Gets Better Project to reduce the incidence of suicide among gay teens; kids who kill themselves in part because they're treated unmercifully by the sorts of peers who would wear shirts to school consigning them to being murdered at the command of an angry God.
And because there is no corresponding concept of straight shame, the expression ""Straight Pride" can only be read as a gratuitous and contemptuous response to the suggestion that gay people not be marginalized.

This segment I saw this morning on C-Span's Washington Journal features as guests Jeff Bridges and Bill Shore about their efforts to end childhood hunger. I saw the remaining program where they really discussed more than hunger. Bridges wanted to emphasize education the pallet in addition to feeding our young people healthy food.
This is almost related to another post I wrote at The Sixth Ward yesterday.

TRIBUNE: Most school garden produce is forbidden fruit in CPS lunchrooms
Kathleen Merrigan, deputy secretary of agriculture at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, recently toured a CPS school garden at the Academy for Global Citizenship on the Southwest Side. There, two second-grade girls showed her the eggplant, squash and tomatoes they grew, along with the chickens they kept for eggs.I'm so going to post this on my other blogs in the near future! This really makes a lot of sense *no not really*!
"Ideally, all of those products would make it from the garden to the lunchroom," Merrigan said.
But rules created by CPS and its meals supplier, Chartwells-Thompson, prevent that from happening.
"In order to use food in the school food program, it would need to meet specific/certified growing practices," CPS spokeswoman Monique Bond said.
These requirements would include eliminating all "pesticides and insecticide" applications and using only "commercially prepared organic compost and fertilizers," said Bob Bloomer, regional vice president of Chartwells-Thompson.

THE UPSHOT: Gibbs threatens to pull Obama from India talks after press dispute
The Washington Post's Scott Wilson—who was on White House pool duty Monday and filed the report for the White House press corps—wrote that "Gibbs announced loudly and persistently on steps of Hyderabad House that he would pull" President Obama out of the meeting "unless 'the White House 8,' as we've come to be known, were all allowed in."Wow! Being a press secretary is serious business!
As the discussion continued, Gibbs grew more animated.
"At one point, Gibbs literally had his foot lodged in the closing front door, asking if the Indian security officials pushing hard to shut it were going to break his foot," Wilson continued. "More angry words ensued, and after Gibbs convinced them, through high volume and repetition, that he was serious" about pulling Obama, the press secretary had the security retinue's full attention.

Basically he donated money to three campaigns the most prominent one was to Kentucky's Jack Conway who was defeated for KY's US Senate seat by Rand Paul. MSNBC frowns on that and surely there are people who are happy Olbermann isn't on the air right now!

While I don't believe Quinn has been the best Governor of this state in close to two years in office. I truly believe he is an honest man as he was when he took over for Blagojevich. Hopefully he will change course in the next two years.
BTW, Pat Quinn is about to give his victory speech. Watching the livefeed right now over at the Capitol Fax. Unfortunately what was expected to start at 3:30 it's now almost 4 as I type this. Nothing has happened yet on the live feed.

Final thoughts is that this was a good election. A better election is someone who almost runs away with it. Not the uncertainty we had for three days after the election. Brady should've won it, but I'm not that upset about the outcome. Brady made the right move, if the wrong man won it this year there's always 2014.

AP: Brady has conceded the IL Governor's race to incumbent Pat Quinn. Brady had pledged to wait until all votes were counted unfortunately there were likely to be more votes for Quinn in the long run. Brady was down 20,000 votes and the difference is a matter of tenths of a percent. Both of them were at around 46% of the vote of course with Quinn in the lead.

Well while I would like to see more diversity amongst Black elected officials I'm simply not making a big deal out of the fact that two Black Republicans have been elected to Congress. Of course it might be more important if they represented diverse districts. It might be even more important if they represented mostly Black districts.

I promised to live blog last night and I got sidetracked. It looks like the US House will be Republican next year. Mark Kirk is headed to the US Senate in Obama's old seat. Also our Governor's race is a tie, but so far it looks like Quinn could win it although it's barely a win. Quite a few Congressional Democrats in Illinois have lost so Illinois will be sending more Republicans to Washington next year. BTW, Dennis Hastert's old district is now a Republican held seat again.

Looks like the polls will close on the east coast at about 6 PM Eastern Time. Of course I'm sure if turnout was high it might get pushed back. But where ever the major races are it won't be long until there will be news to report here. Polls in Chicago should close at 6 Central Time. And that is when the excitement should start to pickup tonight.

He provides the example of one longtime politico who had a nice little verbal tussle with a state Senate President. It resulted in him getting fired, but that's not without it's consequences as Miller explains in his pre-Election Day syndicated column.
